Client Stories - Modern Victorian
Background
As a young family, our client’s needs had begun to evolve as their children were getting older. They were ready to elevate their decor and reclaim some of the living spaces that were being used for toy overflow. They tasked us with modernizing their historic Victorian home while still maintaining the home’s timeless character. They also had a special piece with sentimental value that they requested we incorporate into the design.
The Plan
Our plan included designing spaces to encourage flow between the rooms while giving each room a distinct personality.
The living room was designed to feel fresh and welcoming without being overdone. Light, neutral tones paired with subtle textures and comfortable furnishings created an inviting atmosphere perfect for family gatherings or quiet relaxation.
In the dining room, the focus was on crafting a polished and feminine space that juxtaposed beautifully with its counterpart, "The Barrel Room." Soft, elegant hues, refined details, and a thoughtfully curated selection of furnishings brought together a space ideal for hosting dinner parties and family meals, blending timeless elegance with modern comfort.
Success
This project beautifully balanced old and new, blending historic charm with the fresh perspective of a modern young family.
Happy Client
“Thanks to Joanne and Marty, what was once an unused room in our house is now one of our favorites. The ‘barrel room’ incorporates a wine barrel I gifted my husband at our wedding after visiting a vineyard and getting engaged in South Africa. That’s just one example of the creativity the Elements team showed throughout our home renovation. Joanne and Marty stayed true to the original charm and character of our Victorian-style home built in the late 1800s while creating a current and timeless design. They are so easy to work with, relatable and accessible yet they bring high-caliber design to the process. I will continue to recommend them to friends who are ready to elevate their homes.”
